An animated tour of the solar system, drawn live by one GPU shader.

Tour the solar system through an astronaut's helmet visor. Swipe between planets, dive through the visor into space and open pages of facts, history and orbit diagrams. Every planet, moon and the Sun is drawn in real time by a single fragment shader, so the app ships with no images.

What it does

How it’s built

  • One fragment shader draws clouds, city lights, craters, storm bands and rings for every body; 8.6 MB APK
  • No animation packages: one shared ticker drives every painter, with custom route transitions
