One Photo a Day
One Photo a Day has no ads and no analytics. Your photos stay on your phone unless you turn on cloud backup, which is off by default and uses your Google account.
What the app stores
Your daily photos, in the app's private storage on your phone, with the date and time each was taken. They don't go into your gallery.
Your settings, such as whether backup is on.
Camera
The camera is used only to take your photo. No sound is recorded.
Cloud backup (optional)
Backup is off until you turn it on. Turning it on asks you to sign in with Google. The app shows your Google name, email and profile picture in settings.
With backup on, each photo is uploaded to One Photo a Day's backup server, which I run on Cloudflare. It gets a copy resized to at most 2048 pixels and a small thumbnail, with location and camera details removed, plus the photo's date, time and size.
Your photos are stored under your Google account's ID number, not your name or email. The server checks your Google sign-in on each request but doesn't keep your name or email.
Other users can't see your photos. They aren't end-to-end encrypted, so I, as the owner of the server, and Cloudflare, which hosts it, could technically access them. Nobody looks at them or uses them for anything but your backup.
Backed-up photos are kept until you delete them.
Sharing
One Photo a Day doesn't sell your photos or data, or share them with anyone. It has no sharing features.
Deleting your data
To delete your cloud copy, go to Settings, turn off backup and choose "Turn off and delete cloud copy". That deletes all your photos and their records from the server.
Uninstalling the app deletes the photos on your phone but not the cloud copy. To delete it after uninstalling, reinstall the app, sign in with the same Google account and turn backup off as above, or email me.
Taking a new photo for today replaces today's photo.
Children
One Photo a Day isn't aimed at children.
Phone backups
If you've turned on backup to your Google account in Android's settings, Android may include One Photo a Day's saved data in that backup. The backup belongs to your Google account and isn't sent to me.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date above will change.
